In this conference he teaches that there are two paths for losing freedom (law and the flesh) and we are protected through the three ways of prayer, patience and hope. Fr. Tuscan also explores the underlying sin of acedia that plagues our modern world and explains the modern anti-spirituality of "moralistic therapeutic deism."  He identifies three key enemies as being discouragement, distraction and disappointment.
